Got Clean Water?
We are making some really significant progress with our La Gonave clean water project for the Lemelson MIT InvenTeams initiative.  We wanted to give you a quick update.

We are extremely excited to have created a partnership with Starfysh, the leading aid organization in La Gonave, Haiti.  We have also created a partnership with the Yobel Market, a Colorado Springs based non-profit committed to helping to develop economy in areas that are impoverished and exploited.  These partnerships will really help to give our project “legs” and make it possible to significantly affect the lives of 100,000 people in La Gonave, Haiti.  We believe that our filtration methods and innovation will allow everyone on the island to have access to clean water in 5 years, and it will provide work for 100’s of people.

We have also made great progress in finding water dirty enough to test, as well as solidifying our testable filtration methods.

Please feel free to contact me if you would like further information.  You can also follow us at www.SCHSInvent.wordpress.com and on Facebook.

Also, if you feel so inclined, we would be honored to have your support.  We always need people who can be ambassadors in our name, spreading the good news of the work we are doing.  We also need financial help to make sure we have the resources necessary to literally save 1000’s of lives and present at MIT this summer.  Please join us by spreading the word by sharing our Rocky Waters Filtration posts on Facebook, and/or donating in one of two ways:

1. Write a Check:Checks should be made payable to Falcon Education Foundation and the memo line MUST read Todd Matia.  All donations are tax deductible
Mail the Check:Checks should be mailed to the following address:
Ty Keller
2790 Briargate Boulevard
Colorado Springs, CO 80920

2. Donate through GoFundMe: Visit http://www.gofundme.com/schsinvent

Thank you for sharing our journey this year!  We are so excited for the rest of this crazy ride, and we are happy to have you with us.

Happy Spring Break,

Todd Matia

2014 Summer School
Click here for the D49 Summer School Information.
Registration deadline is June 1, 2014
Want off-campus privileges?
In an effort to increase student engagement and academic accountability, any current 10th or 11th grade student ending this semester with a D or F in any class will not be eligible for an off-campus pass until the end of the first quarter of the 2014-2015 school year.  Next year's juniors and seniors are able to leave campus during lunches and free periods if they have an off campus pass.  The SCHS administration will be checking grades for juniors and seniors each quarter next year, and students who are receiving a D or an F at any quarter will not be able to leave campus during the school day until grades are checked again at the end of the next quarter.
